For my son’s 4th birthday we planned an apple-themed picnic at a local farm. Our invite said “rain or shine” and rain it did! But we still had a great time: finishing the day with damp clothes, muddy boots and spectacular sunsets.
To take cover from the rain, we set up our picnic under a little pavilion.
I grouped fresh apples in tin buckets for easy snacking.
Rain showers didn’t dampen our spirits!
Warbington Farms is one of our favorite spots: A beautifully maintained farm with lots of animals and places to play.
Before the picnic, I prepped apple bushel baskets–stuffing them with a simple lunch for each guest (the handles made it easy to carry!) I also had lots of plaid picnic blankets on hand to spread on the grass.
Sliding after the rain let up…
